Progress report

Piece by piece, bit by bit, the Midcentury house is coming together. John and I walked through the soon-to-be-home this morning to see how all the pieces are fitting without the weekday construction distractions. During these times, I pretend I am the homeowner. I move through the rooms asking and answering questions like, "If I come in the door with an armload of groceries, where would I set them? Where would children or friends sit to visit while I cook? Is there enough light in the kitchen? Is the flow of color and finish from one space to another pleasing?"

So far, so good.

Speaking of finishing pieces, many will be accomplished this week. The new flooring will be complete, and most of the interior painting will be done. It has been a challenge to find the right bathroom fixture refinishers as we must match the green tub color in the hall bathroom. After much research, we have found a company experienced in color matching, and they will begin work tomorrow.

Exterior clean up begins this week too. After all the storm damage that occurred in Memphis earlier this spring, this part of the project has been on hold as we wait for the crew we regularly use to free up.

Below you can see the kitchen progress, the tile, the flooring and why cleaning the ductwork is so important.
