More unseen

So, I thought I would show you how we communicate. Forget sticky notes. Just write on the wall where (hopefully) those work are working can't miss it. This is just fine until the notes are unintentionally mudded or painted over. Oops. Painter's tape is also a preferred medium.
Also unseen by the end of the project will be the inspection approvals. The structural, plumbing and electrical inspections are complete.
This week I worked with the choices for finishes -- interior and exterior paint colors, flooring, trim. We want to respect the period, but also present something that is current. There is a funny line to try and hit. We have found that first impressions are truly make or break in this business, particularly in the bathrooms and kitchen. So, we are shooting for classic, yet current. To this end, I have picked out a patterned floor tile for the main bathroom and kitchen backsplash tile that will tie together the textures from the room. Seeing the original flooring helped me make these choices.
As noted in earlier posts, we opened up an existing entry that had been enclosed in a closet. This will become the new front door. In doing this much of the porch floor will be replaced and the column sanded down and painted. Curiously, the house has five columns, four are made of metal and one of wood.
