Beginning

Overly careful? Perhaps. There are so many steps in the purchasing of real estate where the process can go off the track that, so that as a policy, I do to post information about the sale or purchase of a property until it is complete. All the I’s must be dotted, the T’s crossed and the bottom lined signed before I start writing and posting these narratives.

Week before last we sold the home on Oliver, and last week we completed the purchase of our next project. And now, as everything is now in order, I can begin telling you about it. This home was built in 1900 and is wonderfully located in the Cooper-Young neighborhood. It has 10’ ceilings throughout and lovely hardwood floors in the main living area. Our plan is shuffle the floor plan so that it will have a great new kitchen, a master bedroom with a full bath and large, walk-in closets. In the weeks before closing, we came up with no less than eight different floor plans. The last one was the best; it just took a while to work through to it.

When I was a little girl, every year after decorating the Christmas tree my mother would stand back, look at it and say, “This is the prettiest tree ever!” To which my dad would reply, “You always say that.”  John and I have a similar thing going on. We have completed five houses now and after each one I think, “This is our best work yet.” Sometimes I am referring to the process, sometimes to the final product. Now that we are getting started, I feel the excitement and believe this will be our best project yet.
