Finishing

And so begins the work on the long list of finishing details. This past week quarter-round was installed in all the rooms and closets. Appliances were moved into the kitchen. Touch up painting has begun. The fence was repaired, and a new gate was built. Lighting fixtures were hung. And, the entry tile was laid.

For durability in this high-traffic area, we chose a travertine tile and, for interest, laid it on a 45 degree angle.  Its color coordinates with the wood flooring installed throughout the rest of the home while the style fits the mid-century vibe. The entry walls will be painted a medium gray--pulling the color from the tile and the brick, and, to finish, we have chosen a fun, period light fixture.  A complementary chandalier has been installed in the dining area.

Now, on to the entry itself.

Below: Our dog Huck, who goes to work everyday with John, thinks he needs to help. The newly laid tile. The entry light fixture.
