You how there comes a point in some projects when everything looks at its worst, and then one piece moves and a series of things fall into place? We are at this point with the Cooper Young Cottage. In just a few days, the plumbing will be complete, allowing the kitchen and bathroom to be finished. Then we will be able to install countertops, appliances will be put into place and sinks will be set. The space will be freed up so we can finish the floors. After this, we can touch up walls and paint the trim around the floor. And then we will be down to details inside.
Outside renovations are set to move along too. After having the property surveyed John figured out how to add a driveway and off-street parking. The concrete man is coming this week.
We will have gravel delivered for the courtyard, and our landscaping guy is coming to build a fence. Our tile guy is going to install flagstone on the front porch floor, and we purchased additional large pieces to use in the courtyard.
Now that the end is in sight, we are planning to hold the open houses the first weekend in January.
On a side note, John and I made a trip to one of my favorite places yesterday--Airways Iron and Metal Company. It is a scrap iron and metal recycling place, and we go here to look for interesting items that will add just the right finishing touches. The trip did not disappoint.
