Eating and sleeping

"Form ever follows function." Louis Sullivan

This week we walked through the house and asked ourselves the questions, "Where will people eat? Where will people sleep?"

We had (what we thought) was a great kitchen plan. It was based on a traditional working triangle of stove, skink and refrigerator, but something just did not feel right. We have learned to listen to our gut and this caused us to rethink the kitchen plan a third and fourth time. Finally, we realized that we had not provided a good place for people to eat--one of the very important things that takes a house to being a home. The plan we have landed on accommodates traffic flow through entries, allows for furniture placement and has a convenient space for a small table.

By rearranging the entries to the rooms, and adding in closets, both of the bedrooms have space for storage and sleeping--two necessary function for these rooms. There is even a place for a loft in one bedroom.

We have figured out several issues with the bathroom and were able to claim some space to make a private area for the toilet. The new bath will have a full tub, storage for linens, and a 36" vanity. It will be compact, but very user friendly.

Next up are interior paint and bathroom tile choices. Floor & Decor, here we come.
