Conservation

Along with conserving the character of the home in our renovations, we also look to minimize the consumption of utilities and energy use. This is one of our priorities. To this end, we have added many features to this 120-year old beauty that enable it to be more energy efficient. We have replaced the traditional water-heater with a tankless one. Extra insulation will be added above the ceiling, and it has been added in wherever exterior the walls were opened. To preserve the character of the home, we have restored the large, beautiful original windows to working order and added custom-made, functional storm windows. We are using LED lighting fixtures and bulbs wherever possible. To conserve water, we have added low-flow toilets. Both the stove and hot water heater we have chosen are gas-fueled. Altogether, these improvements will help keep the MLGW bills low and the future owner happy.
